Among them is the electric version of the best-selling pickup truck: the Chevrolet Silverado.
The Chevrolet Silverado is going electric. At the Las Vegas show, General Motors announced two new configurations for its flagship pickup truck, the Work Truck (WT) and the Rally Sport Truck (RST).
The first model was designed primarily for professionals. Billed at $39,000, this model will enter production in the spring of 2023. The latter is more luxurious and will cost a modest $105,000. It will be produced at the end of 2023. However, the Chevrolet Silverado EV won’t hit US roads until 2024.
The automaker is already planning to launch other versions at a later date, at a moderate price (between $50,000 and $80,000). .
The Chevrolet Silverado EV will have an Ultium battery with an unspecified total capacity. These electric receivers should be able to cover a distance of approximately 644 km on a full charge.
An autonomy close to what is currently best done. With direct current, fast charging will be possible with 350 kW of power.
What promises a gain of 160 km in just ten minutes of charging. Not stingy with energy, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will even be able to charge another electric vehicle with up to 10.2 kW.
A reclining trash can
Technically the RST will be more efficient with two electric motors for a total of 673 horsepower for 1,057 Nm of torque. According to the American manufacturer, the acceleration to 100 km/h would be cut in 4.5 seconds by activating the Wide Open Wattage (WOW) mode.
This variation will be able to tow more than 4.5 tons, and its rear damper will be able to carry a maximum load of 590 kilograms. The less powerful WT will offer a payload of 544 kilograms and can tow approximately 3,629 tons.
In the RST version, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will also be equipped with a Multi-Flex function, which will allow to increase the cargo volume of the trunk while maintaining the row of seats behind the pickup.
The partition separating the fuselage from the passenger compartment can then be modulated or even completely lowered to reduce the storage space to 3 metres.
