ECB Chief Economist Lane believes inflation will fall later in the year

Speaking to RTE News after December’s inflation figures announced by Eurostat today, Lane said, “Inflationary pressures will ease this year.” said.

Expressing that energy prices are a “big economic issue” for the Euro Zone, Lane emphasized that geopolitical issues, especially regarding gas imports, have an impact on energy prices.

Lane also reiterated the ECB’s official stance that a change in interest rates is unlikely this year.
