The buyer of the grain on the cargo ship "Razoni" no longer wants to accept the cargo. As the Ukrainian embassy in Lebanon announced, the investor has withdrawn its interest in the approximately 26,000 tons of corn on board the freighter. Officially on the grounds that the delivery is now almost five months late.
The ship is now waiting for a new buyer and thus a new destination to be found. The Razoni is currently anchored off the Turkish coast. The freighter was originally expected in the Lebanese port of Tripoli on Sunday morning. However, he broke off his journey shortly before the finish.
The Razoni is the first ship to leave the port of Odessa after the grain deal between Russia and Ukraine. In the original target country, Lebanon, there is a severe economic and financial crisis. The country actually imports large quantities of grain from Ukraine. Since the war, however, it has had to buy wheat on the world market at high prices in order to be able to continue to supply the population.
The news of the approaching Razoni gave many people in Lebanon hope that the prices of bread and other groceries could fall again.
