Poland to build a wall on the border with Belarus, which has a migrant crisis

It has been announced that Poland will build a wall on the border with Belarus, where the migrant crisis was experienced at the end of last year. After the deepening migrant crisis in November 2021, Lithuania also started the construction of a steel wall on the Belarusian border.

Brigadier General Wioletta Gorzkowska of the Polish Border Guard said that the wall, whose construction will be completed in June, is a necessary and urgent investment.

186 KM WALL

Gorzkowska said that the wall, which she said will be a strategic investment in terms of logistics as well as strengthening the Polish border, will be built on a 186-kilometer section of the Belarusian border.

It has been announced that the wall will have a height of 5 and a half meters, 50 tons of steel will be used in its construction, will be supported by wire mesh, equipped with the latest technology electronic and camera systems, and will also have 22 doors.

COST $130 MILLION

It was noted that the cost of the wall to be built on the Polish-Belarusian border will reach approximately 130 million dollars.

On the Belarus-Polish border, in November 2021, people who came from Iraq and Syria, mostly from Iraq and Syria, tried to cross to Poland via Belarus in search of emigrating to Europe, gathered in the camp they set up in the forest and in front of the border.

With this step, Lithuania became the first European Union member country to start the construction of a steel wall against illegal immigration.

The European Union accuses Belarus of “encouraging” asylum seekers to enter Poland, Lithuania and Latvia, using it as a method of pressure against the union.
